Discover Eagle Rock School: A Path to Transformative Education

Eagle Rock School (ERS) is more than just a high school—it's a place where students who seek a different path in education can find the support and resources they need to thrive. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains, our residential, full scholarship institution offers an experiential approach that serves students from various backgrounds. ERS is designed for those who feel out of place in traditional educational settings, whether they’ve been overlooked or simply want a more immersive and personalized learning experience.

Who Is Eagle Rock For?

ERS is designed for students who don’t fit into the mold of conventional education systems. Some students may be quiet and overlooked, while others may be more outspoken but lack access to the resources they need to excel. ERS is a place for both types of students and everyone in between.

At ERS, every student is seen as an individual with unique potential. We provide a platform for students who want to be part of a supportive community that values personal growth and invests in their future. This commitment to seeing the humanity in every student is central to our mission. ERS doesn’t favor any one type of student but instead focuses on supporting those who are ready to push themselves further once their needs are met.

The Application Process

Applying to ERS is a thoughtful process designed to ensure a good fit for both the student and the school. Prospective students begin by filling out an inquiry form on the ERS website. Afterward, we send out an application, which is reviewed by three teams: our academic team that assesses the student’s educational needs, our health and wellness team that evaluates mental health considerations, and our admissions team that ensures ERS is a good fit all around.

What sets the ERS application process apart is its focus on human connection. Rather than simply reviewing applications, our admissions manager also conducts interviews to get to know each student personally. This allows Eagle Rock to determine if the student is genuinely committed and ready to commit the unique ERS experience, which includes a 24-day wilderness backpacking expedition, living on campus for nine months, and engaging with our community on a daily basis.

What Happens After Acceptance?

Once a student is accepted, they enter the next phase of preparation for their journey at ERS. This begins with receiving an acceptance letter, followed by logistical arrangements such as securing physicals, health insurance, and travel to Estes Park, where our campus is located.

A week of preparation precedes the students' 24-day wilderness expedition, a hallmark of the ERS experience. This expedition serves as a rite of passage, allowing students to develop resilience and bond with their peers. After completing the wilderness challenge, students participate in the "Run In," a 5K run symbolizing their official transition into the ERS community.

The wilderness experience is just one aspect of how ERS challenges students to step outside their comfort zones. It’s designed to foster personal growth and community-building, helping students become more resilient and self-aware as they move into their academic studies and life at the school.
