Eagle Rock Establishes Partnership with Community College to Support Postsecondary Credit Pursuit

Eagle Rock School has long been committed to providing our students with a holistic education that prepares them for success beyond high school. With this vision in mind, we have embarked on a partnership with Aims Community College in Greeley, CO, to offer concurrent enrollment opportunities for our young adults.

This new partnership represents a significant milestone in Eagle Rock's journey to empower youth to pursue postsecondary education and gain valuable college-level experiences.

Navigating the Transition to College: Beyond Credit Attainment

For over two decades, Eagle Rock has explored the possibility of concurrent enrollment partnerships, recognizing the importance of supporting students in their transition to college. Mike Dunn, Dean of College & Career Counseling, emphasizes that while obtaining college credit is valuable, it should not be the sole focus of concurrent enrollment programs. Instead, the emphasis should be on equipping young adults with the skills and confidence to navigate college-level coursework successfully.

One of the key indicators of success in this endeavor at Eagle Rock is students' confidence in their ability to thrive in a college environment. Our unique approach, with our expansive campus and small class sizes, provides an ideal setting for students to develop the skills and resilience needed for college-level learning.

Building Connections: Fostering Community and Support

One of the primary challenges in implementing concurrent enrollment programs is the distance between Eagle Rock and the nearest community college. However, the partnership with Aims Community College has enabled our institution to overcome this barrier and offer robust offerings to our students. By offering hybrid classes and scheduling campus visits, we are ensuring that the young adults on campus are not only exposed to college-level coursework but also immersed in the college community.

Moreover, Eagle Rock supplements the college coursework with our own classes focused on executive functioning, providing students with the support and guidance they need to navigate the complexities of college life. This integrated approach emphasizes the importance of building relationships and accessing college resources, enriching scholars' overall learning experience.

Empowering Lifelong Learning: Inspiring Student Success

The inaugural semester of concurrent enrollment at Aims Community College saw three Eagle Rock students successfully complete a psychology class—a testament to the efficacy of the partnership and the dedication of our educators. Moving forward, we aim to expand our concurrent enrollment offerings, ensuring that more students have the opportunity to gain valuable college experience.

Ultimately, the goal is not just to accrue college credits but to inspire a lifelong love of learning in Eagle Rock students. By equipping them with the skills, confidence, and experiences needed for success in college and beyond, we are empowering young adults to pursue their dreams and make a meaningful impact in the world.

Eagle Rock's partnership with Aims Community College represents a significant step forward in our mission to prepare students for postsecondary success. Through innovative programming, personalized support, and a commitment to empowerment, Eagle Rock is paving the way for a future where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically and professionally.
