The Eagle Rock Fellowship: A Pathway to Transformative Education
The Eagle Rock Fellowship is more than just an opportunity for professional growth—it’s a journey of personal discovery and a chance to contribute meaningfully to the lives of young people. Since its founding, Eagle Rock School (ERS) has drawn individuals who are deeply committed to mentorship, social justice, and educational innovation. This fellowship is a unique opportunity to become part of a community dedicated to reshaping education.
A Cohort Model That Fosters Growth
Each year, the Eagle Rock School selects eight individuals to serve as fellows. Together, they make up a diverse cohort that includes instructional Fellows, health and wellness advocates, and specialists in student services. This mix of disciplines reflects our holistic approach to education, where every aspect of a student’s well-being is considered. The cohort model is central to the Fellowship experience, providing a built-in peer support system. This, combined with issue-area supervisors and the fellowship program managers, ensures that they can navigate the Fellowship with a foundation of connection and community.
Our Fellowship is thoughtfully designed to nurture growth with care and intention. Through weekly seminars, one-on-one sessions, and reflection opportunities, Fellows are encouraged to build on their strengths and find balance in this demanding yet rewarding environment. As a residential school, ERS offers a unique setting where Fellows live and work closely with students, making relationship-building immersive and impactful. This daily interaction deepens both classroom experiences and personal development, creating connections that are at the heart of Eagle Rock.
Education as a Liberating Force
At the heart of ERS is the belief that education should be a liberating force—one that challenges traditional narratives and centers the experiences of historically marginalized communities. The Fellowship allows participants to explore this philosophy in action, within a school that prioritizes anti-racist work and student-centered learning. Leaning into our values, ERS staff (including Fellows) set aside time on an ongoing basis to work on issues of belonging, privilege, and identity, ensuring that these critical conversations are not just theoretical but are embedded in our daily practices.
For Fellows, this environment offers a model of what education can be: a space where learning is tailored to the needs of each student and where their voices are amplified. This approach offers a counter to traditional educational settings, where such practices are often limited by systemic constraints. At ERS, Fellows see firsthand how education can be reimagined to better serve all students, particularly those who have been historically underserved. This experience is not just transformative for the students but for the Fellows themselves, who leave the program with a deeper understanding of what it means to be an educator committed to social justice.
Who Are the Fellows?
The Eagle Rock Fellowship is open to individuals at any stage of their professional journey, whether they are just starting out or looking to make a career shift. What unites all Fellows is a deep commitment to students and a desire to be part of a community that values belonging, social justice, and a range of lived experiences. The Fellowship is an opportunity to explore what drives you as an educator, to reflect on your values, and to find your voice within a supportive environment. ERS encourages Fellows to take an active role in shaping their experience, whether through creative contributions to the curriculum or by finding innovative ways to support our mission.
Fellows are not just participants—they are integral members of the Eagle Rock community. Their voices are valued, and their ideas are given space to shine. Whether through formal teaching opportunities, contributions to school-wide initiatives, or simply the daily interactions with students, Fellows at ERS have the chance to make a meaningful impact.
