Health & Wellness

Eagle Rock was founded on the principle that our programming and community should actively promote well-being and the acquisition of skills, practices and habits that support a healthy life, in mind, body and spirit. In addition to academic advancement, we consider personal growth (PG), social-emotional learning, and overall well-being as essential components of the dual curriculum we offer. Our PG curriculum is led by our Health and Wellness (H&W) Team, and is grounded in the 5 CASEL Competencies. Throughout each student’s Eagle Rock journey, consistent support for personal growth is integrated into everyday programming: within academic classes, weekly PG groups, events, ceremonies, advisories and Wellness Week. Our H&W team plays a pivotal role in helping students cultivate skills, while also providing care and services for immediate health needs.

Eagle Rock encourages students to learn confidence-building skills rooted in kindness, and to nurture connections with peers, staff, nature and themselves. Exploring our 640-acre forested campus, you can disconnect from technology and many daily stressors, and establish or deepen your bond with the natural world. Intramural sports, morning exercise and community service offer valuable outlets for active minds, and yoga, meditation, arts and gardening opportunities offer space for calm and contemplation. Our community gathers daily to share stories, laughter and learnings, celebrate rites of passage and collaborate. This sense of community extends to classroom spaces and student housing. The emphasis on belonging, acceptance, acknowledgement, and freedom of voice significantly contributes to the well-being of our students and staff.
